Alan Ott practices military, seafarer, and federal employment law at the National Security Law Firm and serves as the pro bono general counsel for a charitable nonprofit veterans training institution. Most recently, he was a legislative analyst at the Congressional Research Service where he specialized in defense, maritime, and intelligence personnel law. Alan is a former Army Judge Advocate colonel and Senior National Intelligence Service executive. His thirty-year armed forces career included active and reserve duty with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, plus tours in Asia and Europe. Alan holds a Juris Doctor in Law and Bachelor of Arts in History from Louisiana State University, as well as a Master of Arts in Criminology from George Mason University and a Master of Security Studies from the Army War College. Aside from Alan’s law licensure in America, he is a qualified solicitor in England and Wales. Alan is a military and federal civilian retiree, yet he remains dedicated to public service through his volunteer work as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
