Latoya Hanson – Paralegal

Latoya Hanson brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role as a Paralegal at the National Security Law Firm. With a professional background spanning human resources roles in both civilian and military organizations, Latoya has served as a talent manager, equal opportunity leader, master resiliency trainer, instructor, and recruiter. Her military experience includes working on chapter and medical board separations, giving her valuable insight into the processes and policies that impact service members.

Latoya holds an associate’s degree in Business Administration and a bachelor’s degree in Management. She is currently pursuing a Master’s of Public Administration with an emphasis in Cybersecurity. In addition to her academic achievements, she is a trained suicide prevention leader and volunteers with crisis hotlines, reflecting her compassion and commitment to supporting others in times of need.

At NSLF, Latoya plays a critical role in the Medical Discharge Upgrade (MDU) section, focusing on case reviews. Her experience working closely with all components of the military—active, guard, and reserve—as well as with NATO and every military branch, enables her to approach cases with a comprehensive understanding of military operations and protocols.

Latoya was drawn to NSLF by the firm’s unwavering dedication to helping veterans. As a veteran herself, she shares the firm’s passion for assisting service members in achieving the best possible outcomes. Her values align perfectly with NSLF’s mission of providing compassionate and effective client advocacy.

Outside of work, Latoya is an avid reader who has already completed 129 books this year. She is also a passionate traveler, having visited 63 countries, and enjoys water sports, swimming, and spending time with family and friends. She gives back to her community through volunteer work with Meals on Wheels, food banks, and suicide prevention hotlines, and she occasionally helps with her niece’s Girl Scout troop.

A proud fan of Doctor Who and Harry Potter, Latoya brings a compassionate, uplifting presence to her work and the clients she serves, particularly veterans in need of assistance. Her dedication to improving the lives of others makes her an invaluable part of the NSLF team.
